The N+1 solution will allow the customer to achieve five 9 up time. The goal is to protect a TMG7800 system against an hardware failure. This solution will maintain the exceptional TMG7800-STM1 performance at 2016 channels per unit. The system can contain up to 15 active TMG7800-STM1 and 1 stand-by TMG7800-STM1.
The stand-by unit being a hot stand-by, the system will allow the switchover without any human intervention. The N+1 solution will identify the unit to be replaced and reroute automatically the traffic to the stand-by unit through the Active Patch Panel.
When the N+1 Patch Panel is not powered, the STM1 signal is still going through passively. All 15 TMG7800-STM1 can still be used.
A second N+1 Patch Panel can be used in the system to protect the STM1 APS signal.
