Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) refers to one of the standards used for 3G mobile phone networks. It is based in part on the work of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). It is closely related to the standards used in the development of GSM networks.
TelcoBridges and UMTS
TelcoBridges supports UMTS networks through its Tmedia media gateways and Tdev value-added services (VAS) development platforms. These support the signaling protocols and voice codecs that are used in the context of UMTS networks.
As of July 2009, the Tmonitor series of devices for network monitoring, lawful intercept and location-based services does not currently support UMTS/3G networks.
