A Request For Comments, or RFC, is essentially a standard as published by the Internet Engineering Task Force. It describes the expected behaviors, methods for interacting, etc., with a given technical standard. The RFC process is notable for its openness in terms of the participants in the process.
TelcoBridges and RFCs
TelcoBridges supports a number of RFCs in its products. For example, in order to implement VoIP functionality, in addition to the underlying hardware, we needed to support the different RFCs that are collectively understood as SIP in Toolpack. Where possible, we have added RFC information to articles found on this wiki. The article on VoIP offers a good example of what we are aiming to provide.
