Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is, according to Wikipedia, "used in network management systems to monitor network-attached devices for conditions that warrant administrative attention."

TelcoBridges and SNMP

The current iteration of SNMP support offers the ability to 'GET' various variables from the system. A series of Management Information Base files (MIBs) are provided by TelcoBridges. However, SNMP 'traps' (i.e., alarms) are not supported in the current release; nor is ability to 'SET' system variables. Both of these options are currently (July 2009) under active investigation.
