A timeslot refers to one of the division of a TDM stream or bus. Within the context of the Toolpack framework, a timeslot refers specifically to a single voice or data channel of either 64 or 56 kbps bandwidth. A timeslot is most often related to a physical trunk (T1/J1 or E1) but can also exists in different hardware internal TDM busses.
