The TMG3200 and the TMG800 are included with an embedded linux host. Therefore it is essential to shutdown the TMG units properly. Not doing so may result in a file system corruption.

Shutdown the TMG unit properly

WARNING: DO NOT TURN OFF the power to the TMG unit using the power switch located at the rear, unless the Linux host has been properly shut down beforehand, using the reset button display, or manually using the shutdown shell command. Allow enough time for the Linux host to shut down before turning the power to the TMG unit off (e.g. 2-3 mins). Be aware that the shutdown procedure of the unit is logged and traceable for support and warranty purposes.

Shell command

  • Connect to the TMG unit through ssh
  • Enter the shutdown command
   shutdown -h now
  • Allow 2-3 minutes for the Linux host to shutdown entirely


Reset button

TMG3200

  • Press the reset button in front of the TMG3200 unit
  • The display will prompt you a choice like the following example
   M| Options:
   e|  >Shutdown
   n|   Rst telcom
   u|   Rst host
  • Press the reset button again to acknowledge the shutdown
  • Allow 2-3 minutes for the Linux host to shutdown entirely


TMG800

  • Hold for 1 second the reset button in front of the TMG800 unit
  • The RDY led in front of the TMG800 unit will blink orange to show that it is shutting down
  • Allow 2-3 minutes for the Linux host to shutdown entirely
