This procedure will show how to upgrade a Toolpack system with host redundancy.

Major Upgrade
TelcoBridges suggests to use 1 of the following 2 procedures:
- Minimize Risk Method. Simpler procedure but longer downtime.
- Minimize Downtime Method. More steps in the procedure but shorter downtime.
Requirements
Whichever procedure you will use, it is critical that you get the following information before upgrading your system.
- Read the rest of this procedure before starting.
- Do a backup of Toolpack configuration database.
- Toolpack host can access the internet to download new prerequisites (It is also possible to download the prerequisites and copy them on the server to install them manually)
- New major version license for all the Tmedia in your system (New license can be generate on [Support:License_server| TelcoBridges license server]
- Active your currently active configuration to make sure that there isn't any changes that you are not aware of.
- Download the Toolpack installer from the web
Less Risk Method
- Stop the Toolpack running on the both host (system will be down at this point).
- Run the migration guides on the both host (Install new prerequisites only).
- Run the new installer on the both host.
- Verify that the primary host will start your new version (modify the 'application=' line to contain new version: '2.5' for version 2.5).
vi /lib/tb/toolpack/setup/12358/service/config.txt (Linux) notepad C:\TelcoBridges\toolpack\setup\12358\service\config.txt (Windows)
- Start Toolpack on the primary host.
- Wait for the system to upgrade and that the system gets backup (downtime about 5 to 6 minutes per tmedia).
- Verify that both Toolpack service are started, you are able to connect to the Web Portal and the system is up.
Minimize Downtime Method
- Stop the Toolpack running on the primary host (this may cause a swithcover)
- Run the migration guides on the primary host (Install new prerequisites only)
- Run the new installer on the primary host.
- Verify that the primary host will start your new version (modify the 'application=' line to contain new version: '2.5' for version 2.5).
vi /lib/tb/toolpack/setup/12358/service/config.txt (Linux) notepad C:\TelcoBridges\toolpack\setup\12358\service\config.txt (Windows)
- Stop the Toolpack running on the secondary host (system will be down at this point)
- Start Toolpack on the primary host
- Wait for the system to upgrade and that the system gets backup
- Run the migration guides on the secondary host (Install new prerequisites only)
- Run the new installer on the secondary host.
- Start Toolpack on the secondary host.
- Verify that both Toolpack service are started, you are able to connect to the Web Portal and the system is up.
Minor Upgrade
Requirements
- Read the rest of this procedure before starting.
- Do a backup of Toolpack configuration database.
- Active your currently active configuration to make sure that there isn't any changes that you are not aware of.
- Download the Toolpack installer from the web.
Minor Upgrade Method
- Run the new installer on the primary host only.
- Wait 2 minutes for the primary host to copy the package to the secondary host.
- Switch package using the Web Portal.
- The system will update itself (downtime about 5 to 6 minutes per tmedia).
- Verify that both Toolpack service are started, you are able to connect to the Web Portal and the system is up.
