Answer Seizure Ratio (ASR) gives the relationship between the number of seizures that result in an answer signal and the total number of seizures. This is a direct measure of the effectiveness of the service being offered onward from the point of measurement and is usually expressed as a percentage as follows.

ASR = (Seizures resulting in answer signal) / (Total seizures) * 100

In the case of call routing using TelcoBridges' Media Gateway Application, ASR routing will match any route whose destination NAP has a higher ASR. This kind of routing will try to improve overall system ASR by always using the best NAP.

TelcoBridges' Media Gateway Application can decide to route on the best NAP according to the following periods:

  • global
  • last_24h
  • current_hour
  • last_hour

It can also decide a minimum ASR under which NAP won't be used anymore.
